What are the engine choices that fuel the Cherokee’s capability?

Under the hood of the Cherokee, you will find one of three different engine options that fuel the SUV’s capability. With the Latitude, Latitude Plus, and Limited trim models, you will find a 2.4-liter Tigershark Inline-4 engine that can produce up to 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Coming optional at the lower-trim models and standard starting with the Limited 4×4 trim is a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine. This V6 provides additional power output, being able to push out 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. One of Jeep’s most advanced engines is also offered with the Cherokee as an optional addition; the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine offers the best of both worlds, with 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque potential while also achieving a highway fuel economy of 31 mpg. Each Cherokee engine is paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission. One of the most impressive systems with the Cherokee is Jeep’s Selec-Terrain torque distribution system that is offered with each 4×4 trim model and allows you to pre-select terrain type to better establish traction while driving off-road.

With the 2020 Cherokee, Jeep offers five different trim models that each offer a varying level of features and even can specialize the capabilities of the SUV. The highest level trim offered with the Cherokee is the Overland, that further enhances the comfort and convenience of the Cherokee with features such as larger 19-inch wheels, premium leather seats that can be heated or ventilated, a five-year trial of SiriusXM Radio, a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 4C Navigation support, and a hands-free power liftgate. Jeep also brings in the Trailhawk trim, which features a list of off-road-oriented features such as a tuned off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, a rear locking differential, hill descent control, and underbody skid plates for extra protection while off-roading.

Jeep has worked in an impressive collection of safety and security-based features to help put drivers at ease while behind the wheel. Coming standard with each Cherokee are safety features including electronic stability control with electronic roll mitigation, hill-start assist, a rearview camera housed in the touchscreen display, trailer-sway control, and an advanced airbag system that spreads airbags throughout the interior cabin.
