2019 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2019 Honda Odyssey near Spring, TX

Minivans are a quintessential part of family life, as they are responsible for holding cargo, carrying around passengers, and keeping everyone safe and entertained. The problem is, which minivan should you be buying? We are here to break down two of the top competitors in the minivan segment to figure out which minivan you should be driving home. The first option is the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, which makes no major changes in 2019, and gives you an upscale design, the latest in luxury and safety, and all-around visibility. The other minivan we’re looking at is the 2019 Honda Odyssey. This minivan also stays pretty similar to the previous model year, giving you modern safety, a strong engine, and easily configurable seating. To learn which minivan comes out on top, continue reading down below!

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Power & Handling

The Chrysler Pacifica is a minivan that understands the importance of power. That is why the 2019 model comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6, which has the capability to produce 262 pound-feet of torque and 287 hp. This engine will be found matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy varies, with the L trim giving you around 18/28 mpg and the rest of the trim levels giving you up to 19/28 mpg. There’s another surprise with the Pacifica. Another model is available that will give you a hybrid engine option! This hybrid engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that is paired with dual-electric motors and a 16kWh battery.

2019 Honda Odyssey Power & Handling

On the other side of things, the 2019 Odyssey comes with one standard engine and no hybrid option. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6, which can produce around 280 hp and 262 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission pairs with this V6 engine to give you better shifting dynamics. Two of the higher trim levels come with a ten-speed automatic transmission instead. No matter what, you’ll be getting a fuel economy of around 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The lack of a hybrid option is pretty disappointing, and further proves the Pacifica’s dominance.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Features & Design

To give you the customization and uniqueness that you’re looking for, Chrysler offers the 2019 Pacifica in six main trim levels. The base trim, called L, features dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, Bluetooth, a USB port, 17-inch steel wheels, a 60/40-split folding 3rd-row seat, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry and ignition, rear parking sensors, an auxiliary jack, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 6-speaker audio system, and a rearview camera. The highest available model is Limited. This model adds features like premium leather upholstery, LED fog lights, a hands-free liftgate, a 2nd-row USB port, power-folding mirrors, two sunroofs, ventilated front seats, an in-vehicle vacuum cleaner, a power-folding 3rd-row seat, 18-inch wheels, auto-dimming rear view and exterior mirrors, driver-seat memory settings, xenon headlamps, and hands-free sliding doors.

2019 Honda Odyssey Features & Design

The Odyssey has its own list of available trim levels. The base trim LX is lacking in standard features. You’ll get a 7-speaker sound system, power-adjustable front seats, Bluetooth, 18-inch alloy wheels, a five-inch central display screen, a rearview camera, power-adjustable front seats, two USB ports, automatic climate control, and a 60/40-split folding 3rd-row seat. The top-of-the-line model is called Elite. This trim adds features like 19-inch wheels, an 11-speaker premium audio system, noise-reducing glass for the front and rear windows, a wireless phone charger, power-folding mirrors, and ventilated front seats. As you can tell, the features are pretty lacking throughout, and they make the Pacifica an even more luxurious minivan in comparison.

Conclusions

The winner is in! The 2019 Chrysler Pacifica completely outdoes the Odyssey with an available hybrid engine, great features throughout the trim level lineup, and a unique style that brings minivans into a whole new light.
